A very good show with favourable weather. The Mid Thames Club made us welcome on their lake. There were three other clubs in attendance, these included the Watermead Club, Portsmouth Club and the Blackwater Club. Beale Park also has an interesting model boat museum and a zoo.
A very busy show this year, with a lot of general public on both days. We put on a good show with an interesting variety of models on display. Boats and engineering examples of our hobby created plenty of interest from the public. We were thanked for our efforts and we were treated to the usual good food from the Trout Inn and invited to come again next year. Thank you to all the members who supported this event.
Our Club Open Day took place at Coate Water on Sunday 11th June. We had a moderate turnout of members who enjoyed a good day with nice dry and warm weather for a change. Sailing was carried out throughout the day with a good variety of boats.
Milton Lilbourne Summer Fayre took place on Saturday 24th June. We all had an enjoyable day. A very good effort from the members who attended, with a lot of sailing throughout the whole afternoon. The organisers looked after us very well making sure we had all the help we needed when required.
Ducklington this year was quite difficult due to the very wet and muddy conditions. Saturday got off to a good start with good weather throughout the morning. The afternoon was not so good when the rain arrived and we left the show ground about 3.30pm. We just about managed to navigate through the mud.
Sunday was the most difficult day due to the mud. The few brave members who did make it were all pushed or towed through the mud by tractor. We had a good dry day until about 4.0 pm. The ground had improved greatly and we all left without problems.
Apart from the problem with the weather, it was a very good show with lots to see and do. A big thank you to the few members who supported the club.
The Tetbury Show proved to be a good event as always with plenty of interesting things going on throughout the day. A good effort from the members who attended with a good variety of models on display. It was good to have an event without rain for a change.
A very good event this year. We put on a splendid display on the Sunday with lots of visits from the public who were very interested to chat to us posing plenty of questions on our exhibits. Monday was also very good with fewer members who worked hard all day to make the day a success. A big thank you to all the members who supported this event. Thank you Karen for the teas & cakes.
Club Skittles & Presentation Evening (Stratton Bowls Club )
We all enjoyed the evening at the Stratton Bowls Club. Thank you to everyone who helped out on the night including the barman and the Fish and Chip shop. We had a raffle to raise funds to cover the cost of hiring the room and several games of Skittles.
